Benchtop models cover 4 to 60 degrees C with shaking from 30 to 600 rpm on a 25 or 50 mm orbit, while vertical cabinets of 140 to 420 L run 5 to 50 degrees C at up to 300 rpm and carry 6 x 2000 mL to 35 x 50 mL flasks per platform. PID control holds temperature within 0.1 degrees C and speed within 1 rpm on selected models, with LCD readout of both. Typical uses include bacterial and yeast culture, fermentation, enzyme kinetics, solubility studies, suspension cell line expansion, antibiotic testing and bioremediation research.
