A Cyto Centrifuge, also called a cytocentrifuge, concentrates cells and spreads them evenly onto glass slides for cytological analysis. Speeds reach 3000 rpm, with a maximum relative centrifugal force of 890 x g. Labs use cytocentrifuges to prepare slides from blood, urine, sputum, pleural fluid, fine needle aspirates and bone marrow aspirates. Small blood samples can be processed as well. Diagnostic cytology, cell culture preparation and research labs use the slides for staining and microscopy. Drug and toxicology sample preparation also uses cytocentrifuge slides. A cytocentrifuge concentrates cells onto a slide, and the instrument does not isolate rare cells or purify cell types.
