Automated sample processing systems handle the first steps of sample preparation without manual tube handling. They open and close lids, dispense liquid, and add proteinase and internal controls. One model processes 1 to 48 tubes per run, and another processes 96. Handling time is 20 minutes or less on the 96-tube model. Accepted samples include plasma, serum, whole blood, swab media and urine. Real-time monitoring tracks materials and equipment, and an alarm sounds for abnormalities. The system works inside a biosafety cabinet with a remote control pad to limit cross-contamination. Typical uses include molecular testing labs and high-volume screening.
