Laminar Flow Cabinets create an ISO Class 5 work zone by pushing HEPA filtered air across or down onto the work surface in a uniform stream at 0.3 to 0.6 m/s. HEPA filters capture 99.99% of particles at 0.3 µm, and ULPA options reach 99.9995% at 0.12 µm. Horizontal models direct air toward the operator and vertical models send air downward, in desktop or floor-standing sizes from 25 to 70 inches for one or two operators. UV-C lamps decontaminate surfaces between runs. Typical uses include tissue culture, microbiology, food testing and pharmaceutical compounding. These cabinets protect the sample, not the operator, so pathogen work needs a biological safety cabinet.
